Client Profile
Every client that I work with is unique. No two people come to me with
exactly the same set of challenges, frustrations or goals.
More often than
not, I'm approached because a professional has reached a point in their
life where the career path that they have been following for a number
of years no longer inspires and motivates them. Furthermore, they have
lost touch with the values which are most important to them. They want
to re-connect with themselves and in doing so explore new opportunities
that align with their core values in life.
Many of my clients
are in the age range 25-40. I've found that professionals in this age
group share some common challenges with respect to how they build a
rewarding personal and professional life over the next 5, 10 and 15
years in an environment which is filled with uncertainty. As someone
who falls into this age group I can relate to many of these challenges.
This helps me to form a strong bond with my clients.
Current Profession
The professionals which I work with come from a variety of backgrounds
including:
- HR
- Sales
- Marketing
- IT
- Health
- Coaching
- Small Business Owner
The career path which each person has
followed, has to a certain extent shaped who they are today. How they
behave, what they believe they can achieve and why they choose to do
some things and not others.
As a coach I'm certainly interested in how you've got to where you are
today. However, I'm much more interested in helping you to identify
where you go in the future and to develop the new behaviours that
you'll need to get there.
For this reason, I'm less concerned with the specific profession that
you work in and more concerned with the personality traits that
define you.
Personality Traits
I specialise in helping ambitious but
frustrated
professionals to build more rewarding careers. In addition to
ambition and frustration, the professionals which I work with tend to
share the following traits
- Self Starters
- Independent
- Natural problem solvers
- Analytical thinkers
- Leaders rather than followers
Ambitions
Many of the professionals that I work
with are people who have come to
the conclusion that they don't fit within the culture of the
organisation which they have been working for. Their personality,
values and ambitions are at odds with those of the organisation.
They are motivated less by short term career advancement & and
more
by longer term career satisfaction. Other primary motivations for
professionals contacting me include:
- Desire to make the move
from employment
into self employment
- Desire to change industries
- Desire to spend more
time helping others
- Desire to turn their
knowledge and experience
into new income streams.
Frustrations
Many of my clients have arrived at a
point in
their life where their ambitions are out of sync with the values most
important to them. This results in a feeling of emptiness when the
ambition is achieved. Typically, a client will say something like "is
that it?".
For example, the promotion that you worked hard to secure doesn't
produce the feelings of happiness and satisfaction that you hoped it
would. Over time this leads to frustration as you get trapped in a
career that is no longer motivating or rewarding.
