Process

Through our four step process we can help you to build a unique personal brand. During each coaching session we will focus on one of the following four steps.

Clarify
Create
Communicate
Control

Step 1 - Clarify

The first step is uncovering. This means we want you to discover who you are and what makes you unique. This is vital in revealing the core around which you build your brand.

Your coach will work with you to identify:

Your vision & purpose – what do you really want from your career and your life in general.

Your unique strengths – Your coach will help you to become aware of strengths which you were not consciously aware you had

What others think & feel about you – We often avoid feedback because we have been conditioned to believe all feedback will be negative. To build a unique you need to understand how “target market” sees you. We use an online feedback questionnaire which can easily be sent to friends, family & work colleagues to gain invaluable feedback on you. This gives you a whole new perspective on what you need to do to build your career.

Your values and passions – When you meet someone who is passionate about what they do, they immediately stick in your mind. We want you to focus on your passion and talk freely about it.

Your Target Audience – Your coach will help you to identify your target audience for your personal brand by exploring the people you come into contact with and defining a map of who are the best targets.

During the Clarify stage your coach will provide you with all the necessary workbooks and support so you can fully uncover what makes you unique.

Key workbooks & resources supplied at this stage are:

  • Personal Discovery Workbook
  • My Target Market Map
  • On-line 360 degree feedback form

Step 2 - Create
After identifying what really makes you unique, the Create step focuses on building a set of messages that concisely communicates what your brand values are.

Personal Mission Statement – Not just for large businesses, a well crafted mission statement can be used to keep you focused on your longer term career goals. It can also be used to help people within your target market understand exactly what makes you different.

Personal Vision Statement – Businesses often get their mission & vision statements mixed up. Your coach will work with you to make sure that you don’t. Your vision statement is about what you what to contribute to the wider world in the long term.

Elevator Pitch  - Dreaded by many and loved by sales people, your Elevator is simply a way of helping people to remember what you do and what makes you different.

3 Things to Remember - What are the top 3 things that you really want people that you meet to remember about you?

Personal Marketing Plan – Ultimately, if you are going to progress your career or build your business), you need to have some form of marketing plan. Your personal marketing plan should be a usable document which focuses on information such as your goals, strengths and the options for achieving your goals.

Your coach will encourage you to add pictures, sounds and video to your personal marketing plan to create more than just a boring text document.

Step 3 - Communicate

The acid test of any good brand is how effectively it communicates with its target audience. How do successful, well established brands such as Coca Cola, Microsoft or Nike communicate with their marketplace? What media do they use? What messages do they communicate? We help you identify the best communication channels for you and your brand and build the most loyalty in the most effective way.

Communication Channels – Not so long ago, communications were limited to a small number of media, namely, TV, Radio, Newspapers & Magazines. The advent of the Internet and broadband has opened up massive opportunities for the average professional who is looking to build their profile.

Communication Tools – Newsletters, Blogs, Video Blogs & the humble business cards are just some of the tools that you can use to build your personal brand. Your coach will help you explore the best tools for you.

Activity Plan – This is where all the planning in the previous stages is put into action. At Matrix Business Coaching our aim is to make sure you see tangible results from your coaching sessions with us. We help you to build an activity plan which takes you closer to your goals including deadlines on when specific communication activities will be completed.

Step 4 - Control

The final step in building your personal brand is to measure how people are responding to you. Measurement isn’t just about tracking how many hits you get on your web site or how many people read your blog. It’s also about how people respond to you on a face to face basis.

Your coach will help you to develop the skills necessary to identify the more subtle ways in which people react to you and what this means with respect to your personal brand. The ultimate objective is to help you communicate more consistently on a day to day basis. Consistency is key. If you consistently communicate your brand values in a consistent way more people will understand exactly what you do, what you stand for and what makes you different.
